A Letter to terrorism

To whomever believes in the destruction of humanity.

You have awaken in me a sense of religion. Cause how can I believe in Hell if I don’t believe in the Heavens? How can I come to terms with the insanity of your actions as a deed done on earth? Surly we have reached the Inferno, is such human infliction possible elsewhere? There are no words that can express the destruction you leave behind, you who took it upon yourself to play God, you who decided you had the holy privilege to determine whether we live or die.

What is this horrible illness that lives within you? An evil sickness worse than cancer grows inside your flesh and bones, tearing up your soul, fed by the destruction of human life, the annihilation of diversity and the obliteration of our cultural magnitude.

Why was dying easier than living? Choosing death instead of a life that could have been blessed with love, family and the glories of the world. Instead your bloody explosion takes our innocent, those who chose a life in peace, and leave us with fearful minds and shattered hearts that over and over must succumb to the overwhelming grief that you have created.

And for what? Who can understand the reasons behind your choices, your passion for a cause so infected with misinterpretations and hate that it has blinded you from something as human and powerful as the will to live.

I wonder why peace is so unobtainable, why killing is the only solution to whatever problem we are not able to fix. What is it that you want? Our submission? Our tears? Our hatred? Our acceptance? Our detachment from one another?

Yes, you have decided to leave your mark on the world and therefore we know who you are. We will always know you were driven by powers impossible for us to fathom, someone who lost their way even if on a path you thought was right.

And because your actions are incomprehensible we will not let it break us. Nothing unexplainable will tear us down. We believe in things that are real. Such as love. Such as our community. Such as comradeship beyond borders and religion. And that will lift us from your bloodstained memory. It will conquer the terror. You cannot outnumber us. The more you try, the more we will show you that we are one, all those who you make stronger in unity by trying to pull us apart. Every time you hate, we realise that we must love. Love our neighbour, love the stranger, love who is different. Tolerate opinions, respect beliefs.

No, you will not triumph. You will not see us burn and you will never have us yield. You have given your life in vain to the ideals of terror, because we will never let hatred swallow us. We will pick up the pieces and put them together, new and stronger. Soon, you will be forgotten. Your moments of glory will be forgotten. We will remember our loved ones and they will live on forever as the light, the brightest stars. We will honor their memory by the greatness of their spirit, not by the death you gave them. They will forever remain, you will forever be condemned to darkness.

I get the sense of religion, but I am not religious. But I do believe. I believe with all my heart in humanity and the kindness of the billions of people who repress terror and greet peace with open arms. It is us against you and we will prevail.

You make a good point Helle, what do they want to achive except, fear and more hatred and violence. On one of the darkest moments of Brithis history Winston Churchill once said: “We will never surrender”.
